Using Knitted Weaving Textures in Industrial Design

Knitting is the process of making linen or products (usually elements of clothing or interior items) from one or several threads by bending them into loops and connecting the loops with each other using simple tools, manually (crocheting hook, knitting needles, needle, fork or just fingers) or on a special machine (mechanical knitting). Knitting, as a technique, refers to the types of weaving.

Therefore, we created a package 20 Knitted Weaving Textures and, using the Society6 and RedBubble websites for applying prints on objects, were able to create a collection of modern interior and household items with knitted patterns.

The first industrial designers appeared in the 18th century in England, which was primarily due to the work of Josiah Wedgwood and the development of industrial production of printed fabrics.

The definition of “industrial design” appeared in 1919 thanks to the architect from Germany, Walter Gropius, who founded the revolutionary industrial design school “Bauhaus” in Weimar (Germany).

After the Second World War, industrial design was seriously developed in Scandinavia and the Netherlands. Around the same time, pragmatic Americans expressed interest in the direction in order to increase sales. In the 1960s, the direction became so popular in the USA that the College of Industrial Design was organized.

In 1969, a member of this board, Thomas Maldonado, gave a very capacious definition of industrial design:

Industrial design is a creative activity that aims to improve the external advantages of objects produced in industry
